Job Description:

Good Neighbors International (GNI) is an international humanitarian and development non-governmental organization, operating in 46 countries with a focus on community development and humanitarian program. Its country office, Good Neighbors Ethiopia (GNE) has a 25-year track record of assisting Ethiopia’s most vulnerable and marginalized populations. GNE is present in Ethiopia’s Amhara, Oromia, Benishagul Gumez, Sidama, SNNPR, and Addis Ababa city administration. The organization will start the project in Debre Birhan, North Shewa Zone, Amhara region entitled “Emergency Humanitarian Assistance for Amhara Region, North Shewa Zone.” and we are looking for an energetic & well-experienced person. The project is funded by JPF (Japan Platform).

Overview of the Position

The overall objective of the project is to address immediate lifesaving support for the internally displaced in the camp.

Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Providing nutrition counseling services to internally displaced people in the target area.
  • Coordinate the selection of malnourished beneficiaries in the IDP cams with the help of assisted volunteers,
  • Take an active role in the registration and verification of beneficiaries to ensure that the process is fair.
  • Prepared the checklist which help to identify the target supplementary food beneficiaries from children and PLW.
  • Provide training for the project volunteers on the measurement of mid-upper arm circumference;
  • Participate and supervise the target selection of the supplementary food beneficiaries in coordination with local authorities.
  • Provide orientation for the supplementary food beneficiaries about how to prepare and use Corn Soya Blend (CSB).
  • Ensure that the commodities are of correct quantities and quality as manifested on the waybill.
  • Ensure that the distribution center is properly organized and secured with ropes and crowd control measures put in place to ensure smooth distribution and flow of beneficiaries.
  • Responsible to ensure that all necessary distribution equipment is available at the distribution center, including forms, ropes, banners, measuring devices, etc.
  • Prepare daily distribution center visit reports and submit commodity distribution reports.
  • Supervise the volunteer at the time of supplementation food distribution to ensure a proper distribution process.
  • Work closely with other project field officers assigned to the food distribution (Ration) scheme for effective project implementation.
  • Perform any other duty assigned by the project manager.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Background:
  • BSc in Food Science, Nutrition, Public health, Nurse, and other related fields;
  • With a minimum of 2 years related working experience;

Required Languages – English and Amharic

Skills:

  • Good oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Demonstrated capacity to undertake assigned responsibilities and work under pressure;
  • An excellent team player.
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization, including relevant staff working for the GNE;
  • Computer literate especially in MS word, MS excel, and PowerPoint;
  • Well organized, attention to detail, and have some analytical skills.
