Job description
Major Responsibilities
- The health officer position holder will responsible to Prepare training plan and TOR for health workers based on the approved budget,
- Conduct and undertake IPD & OPD medical consultation (taking of medical history, perform physical examination and provide proper treatment for acute and life-threatening illnesses and chronic illness based on the protocol and provide proper treatment for acute and life-threatening illnesses based on the protocol
- Provide technical support to Health facilities on medical examination, physical examination and patient care,
- Implement the weekly based activities closely with Woreda health office, Health facilities and community,
- Provide primary health care service at Health facilities and IDP sites levels ,
- Conduct & undertake family health services as of PHC, Provide ANC, PNC, delivery, and essential newborn care, Support the provision of iron supplementation, TT vaccine, FP counselling and contraceptives, Support routine and outreach EPI activities, Strengthening of early referrals mechanism for all obstetrics complications and other maternal and child health illnesses,
- Under take management of sick children according to IMNCI and ICCM guideline,
- Assess and ensure the availability essential lifesaving medications, IEHK, Case definitions, ICCM/IMNCI protocol, PHEM protocols, and HMIS tools, Train and support community-based volunteer health worker for the implementation of the community component activities, Provide on job sensitization based on key technical gaps ,
- Support and improve basic preventive health care at community level in line with public health emergency management, Support awareness creation on preventative health care issues in the community, Improving basic preventive health care at community level in line with public health emergency management with emphasis in health especially commonly occurring epidemic diseases under surveillance, Update the outbreak monitoring charts,
- Participate in Alamata corridor meeting, work closely with government health offices, visit health facilities and identify existing health emergency gap
- Prepare terms of reference (TOR), organize and facilitate training, review meeting and draw best lessons/practice.
- Health facilities capacity on the timely responding, preparing of the preparedness plan
- Ensure all referral cases will be timely transferred to the nearest health facility
- Conduct planning and promotion of awareness creation preventative and promotive health care services at community level

Job requirements
Required Professional Experience
- Previous work experience at least 3 years in risk identification, outbreak detection, PHEM, OPD consultation, ICCM/IMNCI, maternal health, and supply chain management areas
Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification
- Medical doctor with minimum of three years relevant experience. certificate on EDks management, PHEM, MHPSS and IPC are an asset
Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications
- Experience in the mobile health and nutrition intervention areas of screening, risk communication, OPD/Inpatient consultation, outreach EPI, health education, sanitation, and child health
