About Saving Lives and Livelihood (SLL) Project

The Saving Lives and Livelihoods (SLL) initiative, is a Partnership between the Mastercard Foundation and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC). It is designed to save the lives and livelihoods of millions of people in Africa and hasten the recovery of economies across Africa. The Program has entered its second phase, during which phase the Program will, among other activities, focus on completing the vaccination of healthcare workers and vulnerable groups; integrating COVID-19 vaccinations into routine immunization; preparing countries for the next pandemic, particularly through the training and development of community health workers; and strengthening the capacity of Africa CDC as is incidental to delivery of the same. The activities under Phase 2 are a continuation of the activities under Phase 1 and, like Phase 1, are intended to maintain and safeguard lives and

Job Summary:

Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia is seeking to hire a Intern for the Saving Lives and Livelihood (SLL) Phase II project. This position will be based at CO, with frequent regional field visits required. The intern will report directly to the Project Manager.

Under the supervision of the Project Manager, the intern will lead the program operations and implementation at CO and field office level. The intern will be responsible for project planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting at the assigned tasks. He/she will ensure that the project is delivered on time and meets its requirements.

Duration of contract: Up to Dec/2025

 

Duties and responsibilities:

The Intern will have the following duties and responsibilities:

 

  1. Project Technical Implementation (30 %)
  • Facilitate the learning process on selected areas with the project manager on assigned activities
  • Familiarize with the project specific documents and procedures through understanding the nature of the work flow
  • Engage in the technical coordination platform meetings, meeting schedules and tracking action points
  • Engage in learning through coordination with the regional project teams
  • Engage the technical cadence with regional project teams, draft ToR in collaboration with technical team, meeting schedules and tracking action points
  • Engage in collaboration and communication exchanges
  • Support and closely participate on team and individual assignments accordingly
  • Support documentation and learning tasks and workflows
  • Assist both technical and operational team in scheduling and task management
  • Participate in capacity building planning and implementation activities
  • Engage in mentored supportive supervisions to have the exposure on the actual field work
  • Follow up and report back main action items discussed after events and meetings
  • Capture meeting minutes, record key action points and decisions during meetings and events as needed

 

  1. Project Operations Management (50 %)
  • Assist in planning and organizing events/ workshops/ meetings
  • Schedule and coordinate Meetings with time, locations, and attendees
  • Communicate openly through handling phone calls, emails, and other communication channels
  • Create/develop Presentations and assist other in preparing PowerPoint presentations or reports
  • Do clerical tasks through managing paperwork, data entry, and administrative duties
  • Support in organizing project-related documents, contracts, and financial records
  1. M&E (20 %)
  • Familiarize and learn the projects different M&E tools
  • Learn and support on different digital platform sharing and documentation mechanisms
  • Assist in designing tools for data collection, such as surveys, questionnaires, or interview guides.
  • Engage in regular data collection and analysis to assess program progress.
  • Actively participate in regular project performance review meetings and other relate platforms

 

Job requirements:

  • Degree in Health, management or equivalent education with at least 0 year of work experience
  • Willing to working in conflict-affected regions including fragile and hard-to-reach communities
  • Excellent coordination and communication skills;
  • Strong monitoring and reporting skills; Ability to work effectively under pressure
  • Spoken and written fluency in English, Amharic and local language additional advantage
