The Young Leaders for the SDGs initiative is back, and applications for the 2025 cohort are now open! This prestigious program, spearheaded by the United Nations, recognizes exceptional young individuals who are driving transformative change toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). If you’re a young leader passionate about sustainability, human rights, or peace and security, this could be your chance to amplify your impact on a global stage.
What is the Young Leaders for the SDGs Initiative?
Every two years, 17 outstanding young leaders are selected to collaborate with the UN and its partners. These changemakers work to accelerate SDG implementation, advocate for youth engagement, and inspire action worldwide. The initiative provides a unique platform to elevate your work, connect with like-minded peers, and influence global agendas.

The UN actively encourages applications from diverse backgrounds, including young women, persons with disabilities, Indigenous youth, LGBTIQ+ individuals, refugees, migrants, and rural youth.
