The Ethiopian Health Education and Promotion Professional Association (EHEPA) was established and registered by the Ethiopian Civil Society Organization Authority in December 2021. The association’s mission is to save lives and improve the quality of life for Ethiopian citizens by promoting healthy behaviors, preventing diseases, and encouraging treatment-seeking and adherence to services aimed at both communicable and non-communicable diseases, as well as maternal and child health.
EHEPA focuses on various areas including behavioral insights, health advocacy, social marketing, community mobilization and engagement, risk communication, and improving health literacy. The organization conducts both quantitative and qualitative research related to behavioral health, synthesizes evidence, and monitors and evaluates health behavior programs. Additionally, EHEPA develops quality assurance strategies for social and behavior change (SBC) materials and methods.
To achieve these objectives, EHEPA is seeking experienced and qualified candidates for the vacant position of Project Officer.
The Project Officer will play a crucial role in the effective implementation of specific project components. This position involves providing technical support, coordinating activities, and participating in project design, planning, and budget preparation. The Project Officer will oversee the proper execution of assigned project components in collaboration with team members and will assist the Executive Director with project-related tasks.
Responsibilities and Task
- Collaborate with staff, partners, and stakeholders to develop a detailed project implementation plan.
- Contribute to the formulation of the annual project plan and budget.
- Implement project activities according to the project design, annual implementation plan, and other interim plans.
- Facilitate and coordinate project activities to ensure alignment with the work plan.
- Engage in project development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.
- Collect data directly or in collaboration with staff as needed.
- Organize and facilitate training sessions, workshops and seminars.
- Provide technical assistance and support to project team members.
- Compile monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for government and other project partners.
- Document project achievements and lessons learned, and disseminate reports to partners.
- Engage in proposal writing to secure project grants and respond to funding calls.
- Represent EHEPA in different meetings and workshops.
- Frequent field travel for project-related activities and stakeholder engagement.
- Perform any additional tasks assigned by the Executive Director.
Job Requirement
A. Qualification: A Master’s degree in Health Promotion and Health Education, Behavioral Health Sciences, Public Health, or other related disciplines.
B. Relevant Experience: At least two years of experience in Public health-related projects within an NGO or CSO, preferably in the area of Social and Behavior change (SBC) field.
C. Skills:
- Strong networking abilities and teamwork skills
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills
- Communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel, MS Access, and other computer applications
- Experience with data analysis software/programs
- Fluency in English
- Ability to plan effectively and deliver results on time
D. Personality:
- Supportive and ethical in approach
- Always maintains a pleasant and polite attitude
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multicultural and multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communicator at all levels
- Capable of working with minimal supervision and handling pressure effectively
Job Type: Six months Contractual with possible extension
