Job description
Program Description
The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) is planning to conduct the first national air pollution exposure study. The survey is designed to assess determinants of air pollution in Ethiopia. Therefore, the EPHI is looking for qualified applicants who will confidently take care of the household survey. The enumerators are expected to conduct household survey, to identify key indicators of environmental health indicators and conduct air quality study using low-cost air quality instruments in four climate zones of Ethiopia. The complete role and responsibility, and generic information of the post are shown subsequently.
Position 1: – Data Collector
Number required: -16
Employment type: – Contractual
Place of work: – four climate zones, representing all regional states, rural/Urban
Length of Contract: – 45 days and possible terms of extension
Monthly Salary: – 12,000 Birr
Job requirements
- BSc degree in Environmental Health, public Health and/or related fields.
- Previous participation in national hygiene and environmental health status survey, Soil sampling and GATS survey is advantageous
- Ability to work as part of a team as well as individually.
- Willing to work in remote areas of the woreda.
- Since the survey is tablet based, the applicant must bring their guarantor
- Able to listen and speak the local language (Tigrigna, Afar, Afan Oromo, Sidamigna, Somaligna, Amharic)
Duties and responsibilities
- Work in any assigned woredas
- Work on the Household data collection and send data to server
- Conduct air quality monitoring both indoor and outdoor using low cost-air quality monitoring instruments
- Work closely with the team leader and the research staff of EPHI
- EA level coordination, proactively contact local administrators and health extension workers.
- Facilitate payment of local guiders (health extension workers)
- Engage on any other project related assignments requested by EPHI Or Project PI.
Term of employment for all positions: One months with possible terms of extension
