Introduction
Are you an ambitious scientist or innovator in Africa looking to advance your expertise in genomics, diagnostics, or vaccine development? The African STARS Fellowship Programme is offering two fully funded training opportunities designed to empower young professionals and researchers in Africa.
The Centre for Epidemic Response and Innovation (CERI) at Stellenbosch University (South Africa) and the Institut Pasteur de Dakar (IPD) (Senegal) invite applications for the Advanced and Translational Training (ATT) Fellowship and the Young Professional Programme (YPP) Fellowship.
These fellowships provide hands-on training, mentorship, and career development opportunities for early-career professionals committed to advancing science and public health in Africa.
1. Advanced and Translational Training (ATT) Fellowship
Who Should Apply?
This 4-month fully funded fellowship is ideal for early-career scientists with a passion for:
- Genomics for public health
- Genomic diagnostic design
- Vaccine & biomanufacturing
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify, applicants must:
✔ Be born in and/or residing in Africa
✔ Be 35 years or younger
✔ Have a background in a relevant field (BSc required, MSc/PhD preferred)
✔ Show strong leadership potential and commitment to Africa’s scientific growth
✔ Be fluent in English or French (both are an advantage)
Fellowship Benefits:

2. Young Professional Programme (YPP) Fellowship

Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify, applicants must:
✔ Be born in and/or residing in Africa
✔ Be 35 years or younger
✔ Have a background in a relevant field (BSc required, MSc/PhD preferred)
✔ Show strong leadership potential and commitment to Africa’s scientific growth
✔ Be fluent in English or French
✔ Women are strongly encouraged to apply
