Job Summery
Major duties and responsibilities:
Key Areas of Accountability/Duties
The officer will be responsible for planning field project activities, closely monitoring their implementation and progress, compiling all accomplishments and producing technical reports.
Specific duties include:
- Plans, organizes, coordinates, leads and controls the projects’ implementation initiatives at regional level.
- Provides technical support in the design and delivery of RMNCH+PPFP and integrated IPPFP at health facility level.
- Facilitates accreditation, certification and technical support on training and mentorship interventions.
- Provides technical support in the roll out of training and mentoring interventions for mid-level providers.
- Provides technical support for Regional Health Bureaus in rolling out PPFP and integrated RMNCH training and mentorship to low caseload facilities.
- Leads and provides technical support in the data compilation, analysis and reporting of data on training and mentorship, service and related areas at health facility level.
- Supports introduction of new contraceptive methods such as hormonal IUD in Ethiopia through advocacy, training and mentorship.
- Supports introduction and expansion of the PPH bundle at PHC level through technical advocacy, training and mentorship.
- Provides technical support during evaluation and documentation of different knowledge management products.
- Provides technical support in the institutionalization, sustainability, and transition of IPPFP and other integrated RMNCH interventions for government ownership and large scale up.
- Demonstrates his/her ability to be effective in high-pressure situations, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, set priorities and manages/supports staff through process and work effectively in unstructured and fast-paced work environments.
- Consolidates reports and timely shares to the M and E officer.
- Assesses the strengths and weakness of all program interventions and takes the necessary corrective actions if need be at regional level.
- Organizes regular meeting with project PI and project manager to assess the progress on how well the interventions are implemented, identify changes faced and provide immediate solutions.
- Assesses the impacts of each program interventions and takes the necessary actions based on the result.
- Identifies and synthesizes the best practices and lessons learnt directly linked to program implementations.
- Monitors and evaluates performance of projects in collaboration with M& E officer.
- Works closely with consortium members for better implementation and scale up of the projects.
- Creates and facilitates smooth relationship with government bureaus (Regional Health Bureaus), partners and other external organizations as needed.
- Attends review meetings at regional level.
- Organizes workshops, trainings and conferences at reginal level.
- Maintains comprehensive records of activities, reports and baseline data of the project area.
- Represents ESOG on regional or zonal platforms and meetings as necessary.
- Additional Tasks: Performs any additional tasks as required by the immediate supervisor.
Preferred training:
- Comprehensive Family Planning with an emphasis on long-acting FP methods, priority will be given to those having ToT or Master ToT
- Other related training like infection prevention, FP client-centered counseling (specific), supportive supervision, catchment-based RMNCH service mentorship, M & E, etc.

Job Requirement
- MPH or MSC preferably in Reproductive Health with a background in Medicine, Midwifery, Nursing or Public Health and at least four years of relevant work experience, of which 2 years as project officer preferably RH/FP program/ projects and 2 years in service delivery point/MCH/FP services mainly in providing integrated RMNCH project Postpartum contraceptives.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- NGO experience is of an advantage.
- Knowledge of integrated RMNCH program.
- Strong Monitoring and Evaluation, analytical and writing skills.
- Mature personality, result-oriented, problem-solving attitude & ability to work with little guidance.
- Sociable and team player.
- Proficiency in Microsoft word, excel, and statistical software, particularly SPSS, STATA.
- Being able to communicate with more than one local language is a plus/an advantage
