Introduction
Are you passionate about improving health systems in Africa? The London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM) is offering three prestigious scholarships for the 2025-26 academic year. These awards aim to empower the next generation of leaders in global health by supporting full-time, face-to-face MSc programs in London. Scholars will then return to sub-Saharan Africa equipped with world-class knowledge to drive meaningful changes in public health and health-related research.
What Does the GSK Scholarships for Future Health Leaders 2025-26 Cover?
Each of the three scholarships provides:
- Full tuition fees (including any mandatory field trip fees)
- A tax-free living allowance (stipend) of GBP 22,000.00
Who Is Eligible?
To qualify for one of these scholarships, you must:
- Be a national of, and resident in, a sub-Saharan African country (see World Bank list)
- Plan to return to sub-Saharan Africa after completing your MSc
- Confirm that you would not be able to pay for the program without this funding (via the LSHTM online scholarship portal)
- Meet LSHTM’s minimum English language requirements
- Hold a first degree (with a first-class or upper second-class equivalency)
- Hold an offer of admission for 2025-26 for a London-based MSc program at LSHTM
Note: Preference will be given to applicants who show a strong potential to improve public health and health-related research in Africa.
How to Apply For GSK Scholarships for Future Health Leaders 2025-26
Deadline: 23:59 (GMT) on Wednesday, 05 March 2025
There are two steps to complete your application:
Step 1: Apply for a London-based MSc Program
- Choose an MSc program from the LSHTM list of Masters degrees.
- Follow the instructions under “How to Apply” on your chosen program page.
- Pay the GBP 50.00 application fee (this can take several days to process).
Step 2: Complete the Online Scholarship Application
- After submitting your application for study, you will receive an automated email from the LSHTM Scholarships Team with a temporary password and the link to the scholarship portal.
- Use the portal to search for “GSK Scholarships for Future Health Leaders” and answer all questions carefully.
- Submit your scholarship application; you should receive a confirmation email.
Important: The portal will not accept any scholarship applications after the deadline.
4. Important Information to Keep in Mind
- Eligible Programs: The scholarships apply to non-distance learning Masters programs at LSHTM, excluding joint programs such as MSc Global Mental Health, MSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing, MSc One Health, and MSc Veterinary Epidemiology.
- Application Fee: Your application fee payment must clear before you can officially submit your MSc application.
- Start Early: Aim to complete your admissions application 2–3 days before the scholarship deadline in case of technical or payment delays.
- Complete Both Steps: Make sure your application for study (with all supporting documents) and your scholarship application are both submitted by the deadline.
- Deposit: If offered admission, you normally have 28 days to pay a deposit. If you are awaiting a scholarship decision, email the Admissions Team with the scholarship name and decision date to request a deposit deadline extension.
