Job description

Position: M&E Intern

Duty station: Addis Ababa CO(01), Oromia region- Addis Ababa(01), Jijiga( 01) and Hawassa(01)

Job Summary

The M&E intern, under the supervision of the LME manager will provide support to the regional hub office in routine Community Nutrition Activity monitoring and data quality assurance processes. He/she will support data management activities including data collection, data entry, database design, data analysis and visualization. He/ She will closely work with the LME manager, regional technical staff and local implementing partners to ensure that monitoring and evaluation activities are implemented according to agreed up on procedures.

Key responsibilities

  • Support MEL activities on data collection, data analysis, tracking and reporting.
  • Support local implementing partners with implementation of CN activity data collection, compilation and reporting tools and adherence to reporting requirement.
  • Conduct data quality check and organize/collate reports received from project implementation sites.
  • Support the implementation of periodic monitoring visits to the activity implementation sites.
  • Support MEL and data manager with implementation of data quality assessment activities.
  • Support M&E data recording and reporting tool design, testing and implementation.
  • Assist implementation of community nutrition information system on requirement gathering, database design, testing and implementation.
  • Assist on management of event registration database, provision of even registration, data entry and reporting.
  • Assist capacity building training on M&E recording and reporting tools.
  •  Provide technical assistance to local implementing partners and Community Nutrition activity field staff
  • Other tasks assigned by immediate supervisor.

  • Sensitive to cultural differences and the political and ethical issues associated with international health and development work.

  • Works on complex problems across the organization that require routine coordination with communications team leadership.

Supervision given/received:

  • Receives instructions on new assignments.
  • Reports to MEL manager at regional level and MEL coordinator at CO level for Feed the Future Ethiopia Community Nutrition Activity.

Job requirements

 

  • Fresh graduate with BSC in statistics, computer science, health informatics/technician, and related disciplines.
  • Interest to work with Ethiopia public health information management systems like HMIS, e-CHIS, DHIS2 and NGOs and CBOs is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge on monitoring and evaluation implementation.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Well-developed computer skills in database design, data analysis and presentation
  • Ability and interest to travel within Ethiopia Community Nutrition Activity project implementation sites.

Typical Physical Demands:

  • Typical office environment.
  • Ability to spend long hours looking at computer screen and doing repetitive work on a keyboard.
  • Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time. Ability to lift/move up to 5 lbs.

Technology to be Used:

  • Personal Computer/Laptop, Microsoft applications (i.e., Office 365, SharePoint, Skype/Zoom/Teams), statistical software including SPSS, stata, Epi info , cell phone/mobile technology, and standard office equipment.
