Job description
Job Description
PATH is an international organization working on global health. Since 2007, PATH has been working to improve health systems and services to create healthier futures for Ethiopians. PATH is planning to undertake a study in Ethiopia to estimate the costs to deliver a single-dose schedule HPV vaccines via a multi-age cohort (MAC) campaign and to understand the contextual factors of this delivery approach. PATH will lead the data collection activities in collaboration and coordination with the MOH and other partners. This study builds on prior research to explore the operational context and estimate the cost of HPV vaccine delivery under a single-age cohort approach using a two-dose schedule. The data collection will be done through interviews with Expanded Programme on Immunization (EPI) staff working at different levels of the HPV vaccine program. The study will be conducted in Addis Ababa, Afar, Amhara and Somali regions.
Activities for the data collectors
As part of the study, data collection will be done through interviews with EPI staff working at different levels of the health system. The interviews will be conducted in person through the administration of a questionnaire and the responses will be recorded electronically on a tablet using Open Data Kit (ODK), a free, open-source suite of tools. The interviews will be conducted using an electronic ODK data collection tool including English and Amharic. The data collectors will receive didactic and field-based training before conducting the study interviews. After training is completed, the data collectors will be deployed for the data collection activities. The team will conduct data collection in an assigned region. Data collection will happen during a continuous period of up to four weeks, starting in January 2025 into February 2025.
PATH will cover costs of the training and provide vehicles for travel to conduct of the data collection activities. Data collectors/interviewers will be provided a professional fee and a per diem. The profession fees will cover their labor time and the per diem will cover food and lodging during data collection days including the training days. PATH will also provide data to enable internet access for ODK. Study teams will be responsible for arranging their own accommodation and obtaining their own food during field data collection, using the per diems that will be provided by PATH, as described above. PATH will ensure data collectors/interviewers have technical support for the use and maintenance of the tablet devices being used for data collection, including backup battery packs and IT support via mobile phone or in-person, if practical. PATH and EPI will create a WhatsApp or Telegram group to facilitate communication with the data collection team and the study supervisor and investigators.
