Job Summary 

The position holder shall be in charge of technical quality implementation and delivery of the mobile health and Nutrition services in the assigned Woreda.

S/He will mainly be responsible for the day-to-day implementation of the mobile health and nutrition services under the team, health education, acute and life-threatening illnesses treatment as the primary health care level, safe motherhood and child health consultation. In addition, the position holder is also expected to provide supervision, technical assistance and capacity building to health extension workers and Health workers in health facilities. She/he will be responsible for the daily implementation of mobile health and Nutrition services package as per the standard, supporting health facilities assigned as integrated mobile health & Nutrition modality and daily dispensary and drug supply management. He will also be responsible for day-to-day documentation of children and adults treated, people provided for health education, vaccinated children, and all provided services accordingly and compile weekly and monthly reports and share with Field office health response coordinator and Woreda health offices.

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide consultation at the hard to reach areas (OPD, communicable and non communicable diseases)
  • Improving basic preventive health care at community level with emphasis health, immunization, health and nutrition services
  • Strengthening of linkages and coordination mechanisms between community and the Woreda health bureaus
  • Strengthening of early referrals mechanism.
  • Provide lifesaving key primary health care services such as pediatric and adult consultation,
  • Provide maternal and child health services which include emergency sexual reproductive health service packages, and screen clients for immunization and family planning services.
  • Provide clinical services for malnourished children.
  • Ensure affected communities have access for health services.
  • Should have knowledge of infection prevention and control procedures in place as per the national guidelines.
  • Be alert on early warning, surveillance, and early investigation, of any diseases under surveillance.
  • Support early response and recovery practice at the assigned location according to the PHEM guideline.
  • Ability to cope with stress; hardship; patience and flexibility.
  • Ability to effectively work with government, community leaders, international/national organizations, donors, partners and other International Medical Corps relationships.
  • Strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English.  Advanced proficiency in the use of MS Office, Email and other computer applications
  • Able to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with colleagues.
  • Willingness to work additional hours to meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Good written and spoken ability in the local language.
  • Create smooth relations and collaboration with Government stakeholders.
  • Prepare detailed implementation plan and regular report on time.
  • Ensure implementation of all health-planned activities upon expected quality and schedule at all levels.
  • Organize joint supportive supervision by involving the key health partners at the zonal and woreda levels.
  • Work in close consultation with the health program manager and Senior officer while implementing all activities and utilization of the budget.
  • Prepare and provide regular monthly progress reports.
  • Other tasks instructed by the immediate supervisor.Ensure at all times adequately equipped and supplied with the necessary drugs for provision of treatment under curative services, nutritional and clinical requirements at the catchment health facilities – Plumpy’nut, Vitamin A, routine drugs, nutritional equipment’s, nutritional/medical stationeries, etc.
  • Conduct planning and promotion of awareness creation on nutrition and preventative health care issues in the community
  • Control utilization of medicines and medical supplies delivered to his/her woreda and share verification documents and regular stock reports.
  • Performs other related tasks as instructed by supervisor.

Job requirements

 

  • Medical Doctor /University Degree in Public Health with valid registration/practicing license.
  • At least two years of experience in the field out of which one year NGO experience in the field is preferred.
  • Experienced working at the primary health care unit (Health center/Primary hospital) outpatient department managing patients and other health program implementation and training of health workers, etc.
  • Proficient in local language (Afan Oromo).
  • Good knowledge of project area.
  • Extremely flexible, able to work independently, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations.
  • Interest in and ability to work in team.
  • Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work in remote and potentially insecure environments.

  • Ability to coordinate with others and work under pressure of tight and conflicting deadlines and handle concurrent activities.
  • Ability to build productive and cooperative working relationships with other staff members.
