1. Position: Junior Nurse
Main duties and responsibilities:
The following are essential job responsibilities of staff nurse for which he/she will be evaluated on annual bases.
- Prepares patients for examination and treatment of a staff nurse for which he/she will be evaluated on exam room and taking histories and vital sings.
- Triages and responds to patient communications within practice policy.
- Prepares, cleans and maintains exam and treatment rooms.
- Perform nursing procedures and activates as needed. Example, catheterization, NG tube insertion, NG feeding, suctioning, hygiene care, vital sign, medication administration etc…
- Collect all investigation results on time and reports any abnormality on patient’s condition immediately to the duty physician.
- Count and check all medications during handover and sign on the medication form
- Communicate all pertinent job related information to the next shift, example usage of new forms, new equipment etc…
- Be well informed about each patient’s condition e.g diagnosis, treatment, investigation as well as full name.
- Write incident form on time as required.
- Label infection prevention buckets with the preparation dates and change solutions accordingly.
- Borrowed items should be reported and replaced immediately.
- Make sure ECG machines and pulse ox meter are plugged at all times.
- Provide health education for patients and families according to the health problem.
- Perform other nursing activities delegated by the head nurse.
- Special attention should be given to narcotic drugs (count, register and handover cupboard key to the next shift). Cupboard key should never be left on the drawer.
- All nurses should be able to register and balance medications.
- Ensure all medical equipment’s, supplies, and balance medications.
- Ensure all medical equipment’s, supplies, and rooms are ready for use and kept in their proper places.
- Know how to use endotracheal tube suctioning with special care.
- If a nurse anesthetist is not available, automatically initiate manual ventilation using an ambubag.
- Keep patient’s privacy and confidentiality.
- Ensure a safe and proper handover of your duty, equipment and supplies at the end of your shift. Always ensure that your assigned position is attended by your or the person who replaces you at the end of your shift. If that does not happen, replace inform the appropriate head nurse constitutes negligence and irresponsibility puts patient’s live at risk and the hospital’s reputation and properties at risk as well.
- Always maintain a well-groomed appearance and wear professional attires.
- Perform other duties as assigned to further the mission of the Samaritan surgical center.

2. Position: OR Nurse
Expectations:
Head nurses direct the performance of nursing functions on their unit/ward, consistent with the philosophy, goals, objectives and standards of care in the nursing department. They structure their activates to anticipate and respond to events, activates to ensure that the patients on their unit receive optimum care. Each head nurse is responsible for definite area and must collaborate with others to achieve the best care for their patients in order to achieve the hospital goals. Head nurse is a direct link between the hospital’s strategic objectives and the staff on their unit.
Essential duties responsibilities
The following are essential job responsibilities of a head nurse for which he/she will be evaluated on annual bases.
Leadership
- Provides direction and leadership to nursing staff, ensuring quality and patient focused care.
- Establishes systems processes that ensure effective unit/ward operations.
- Demonstrates a positive supportive attitude towards, patients, families and staff.
- Acts as a liaison between staff, the Nursing Directors and the clinic.
Main duties and responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring that the assigned ward is clean and orderly.
- Prepares monthly schedule for the nursing staff and arrange annual leaves accordingly.
- Register all admissions with complete information and fill out charts properly with

3. Position: General Medical Practitioner
.
Duties and responsibilities
A GP deals with the diagnosis, prevention, and management of diseases, works in wards and outpatient clinics & ICU. Generally responsible for performing rout check-ups, giving recommendations, making preliminary diagnosis, and referring a specialist for further assessment of treatment it need be.
- Responds to health problems presented by patients with history taking performing physical examinations and starting appropriate treatment and relating to other specialist for their evaluations and treatment.
- Plans, implements, or administers health programs for information, prevention, and treatment of surgical injuries.
- Gives health advices concerning diet, hygiene, and disease prevention.
- Collects, records, and maintains patient information on the main hospital record of the patient.
- Admits patients requiring special care followed by investigations and treatment.
- Works with other doctors/specialists as part of the team, either in the same department or within other specialties.
- Works together with other medical and non-medical staffs in the hospital to ensure quality treatment.
- Performs any other relevant duties when found appropriate.
