LOCATION: Afdem & Erer
GRADE: 4B
CONTRACT LENGTH: 1 year.

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:
Level 3: the role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; ore because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The purpose of this role is to provide essential support to Save the Children’s emergency programmes in Afar, focusing on promoting accountability to beneficiaries with the objective of empowering communities and obtaining feedback on SC UK projects leading to improved quality and impact. The incumbent will work very closely with the MEAL Coordinator as well as all concerned project staff and project beneficiaries in establishing accountability mechanisms.

Reports to: MEAL Coordinator
Dimensions: Save the Children works in – regions in Ethiopia with a current staff complement of approximately – staff and current expenditure of approximately $90+ million each year

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
Job Description For MHTN nurse
- Improving basic preventive health care at community level with emphasis health, immunization, health and nutrition services
- Conduct & undertake PHC like consultation & provide proper treatment based on the protocol
- Strengthening of linkages and coordination mechanisms between community and the woreda health bureaus
- Strengthening of early referrals mechanism
- Plan and implement project outlined in the protocol for OTP and SC to achieve objectives of the project.
- The health and nutrition Officer will help facilitate admission of the patient at the OTP, and SC.
- Train and support the HEWs in severe acute malnutrition case management and follow-up (e.g., referral to SC) according to national guidelines.
- Train and support community-based volunteer health workers for the implementation of the community component of the project.
- Ensure each and every admitted child receives adequate and quality clinical and nutritional care through existing resources.
- Ensure at all times adequately equipped and supplied with the necessary nutritional and clinical requirements – Plumpy’nut, Vitamin A, routine drugs, nutritional equipment’s, nutritional/medical stationeries, etc.
- Assisting the planning and promotion of awareness creation on nutrition and preventative health care issues in the community.
- support overall organizational efforts to strengthen gender equality within programs.

Job requirements
- BSc/College Diploma in Nursing and/or other health related fields.
- At least Three years working experience in the field out of which two years NGO experience in related field
- Experienced in nutrition and health program implementation –data collection and compilation, working with counterpart for lasting intervention, training of health workers, etc.
- Good written and spoken ability of the local language
- Extremely flexible, able to work independently, and have the ability to cope with stressful situations and frustrations.
- Interest in and ability to work in team.
- Good organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability and willingness to work in remote and potentially insecure environments.
Desirable
- Awareness of international accountability standards including HAP (Humanitarian Accountability Partnership) and a demonstrated commitment to promoting these standards in ways of working and project implementation.
- Experience of working with an international NGO in somali region.
- Experience of social work in local communities.
- Experience of effectively communicating findings to internal/external stakeholders.
- Experience in child friendly accountability systems.
- Previous experience of working in an emergency context.
