Summary Of Position

Under the USAID Learning Project Activity, Headlight Consulting Services is recruiting Data Collectors to support the USAID Integrated Youth Activity (Kefeta) midline evaluation. The Data Collectors will conduct semi-structured key informant interviews (KIIs) with stakeholders, communities, and service providers. The Data Collectors will work primarily in Addis Ababa, Debre-Birhan, Adama, Jimma, Dire-Dawa and Hawassa.

Data Collectors will be responsible for working with minimal supervision, utilizing their excellent interpersonal communication skills to put interviewees at ease, uploading their data on a daily basis, being in regular communications with team members via email, chat, phone, or other electronic methods, and participating and engaging in trainings and team meetings. Data collectors are expected to be fluent in Amharic and/or Oromiffa, with functional English fluency.

Headlight provides training, covers qualified travel and accommodations costs, provides recording equipment, provides a per diem on qualified days, and provides a Professional Fee for Field Work.

Data Collectors are expected to attend scheduled trainings, be available for team meetings during regular business hours, be responsive to inquiries from team leaders, provide accurate reporting, and act in an ethical manner. Data Collectors will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement. Headlight reserves the right to conduct a background check on candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in data collection training, including pilot to test and tailor data collection tools
  • Conduct quality key informant interviews (KII) with the identified study participants
  • Properly audio record the interviews and take field notes
  • Upload the audio record to a specified Google Drive daily
  • Regularly communicate and coordinate with the Headlight team and rest of survey team to ensure data collection progresses smoothly
  • Participate in team meetings and briefings, as needed
  • Comply with the ethical requirements of Headlight Consulting Services
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in qualitative data collection (Key Informant Interviews)
  • Ability to organize assignments and work independent of frequent supervision
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills in Amharic &/or Oromiffa
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and good team spirit
  • Ability to follow deadlines, accuracy, and attention to detail
