ROLE PURPOSE:
The Health and Nutrition Coordinator’s primary role in the Therapeutic Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) is to oversee and coordinate all program activities at the woreda (district) level. This role ensures the effective implementation of TSFP interventions, providing technical support and guidance to field teams, and ensuring that program objectives are met in alignment with Save the Children and WFP standards. The Health and Nutrition Coordinator is responsible for liaising with local government authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of the program. This role includes managing field staff, monitoring program progress, and ensuring that all activities are carried out in a timely, efficient, and high-quality manner. The Health and Nutrition Coordinator plays a critical role in the success of the TSFP by ensuring that vulnerable children and pregnant/lactating women receive the necessary nutritional support to improve their health and well-being.
Activity Overview
The Health and Nutrition Coordinator will be responsible for the implementation, monitoring, and supervision of the Therapeutic Supplementary Feeding Program (TSFP) at the woreda level. The role involves coordinating with various stakeholders, including local health authorities, community leaders, and beneficiaries, to ensure the effective delivery of the program. The coordinator will also be responsible for data collection, reporting, and ensuring adherence to program guidelines and standards.
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Program Implementation:
- Oversee the implementation of TSFP activities at the woreda level.
- Ensure that all program activities are in line, with WFP and Save the Children International standards and protocols.
- Conduct regular field visits to monitor and supervise program activities.
Coordination and Collaboration:
- Liaise with local health authorities, community leaders, and other stakeholders to ensure effective coordination and support for the TSFP.
- Represent the TSFP in woreda-level coordination meetings and other relevant forums.
- Work closely with other Save the Children International staff and partners to ensure integrated service delivery.
Capacity Building:
- Provide training and capacity-building support to local health workers, community volunteers, and other stakeholders involved in the TSFP.
- Ensure that all program staff and volunteers have a clear understanding of the TSFP guidelines and protocols.
Monitoring and Evaluation:
- Conduct regular monitoring and evaluation of program activities to ensure quality and effectiveness.
- Collect and analyze data on program performance and outcomes.
- Prepare and submit regular reports on program activities, achievements, and challenges.
Logistics and Supply Chain Management:
- Ensure the timely and efficient distribution of therapeutic and supplementary food supplies.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with the logistics team to ensure an adequate supply of program materials.
- Maintain accurate records of supplies and distribution activities.
Community Engagement:
- Conduct community mobilization and awareness-raising activities to promote the TSFP.
- Engage with community leaders and beneficiaries to understand their needs and ensure their participation in the program.
- Address any concerns or issues raised by the community regarding the TSFP.
Compliance and Reporting:
- Ensure compliance with WFP, Save the Children International, and local government policies, and guidelines.
- Prepare and submit accurate and timely reports on program activities, including beneficiary data, stock reports, and financial reports.
- Document best practices, lessons learned, and success stories from the field.

Job Requirements
.
- Bachelor’s degree in public health, Nutrition, Nursing, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- At least 4 years of experience in managing health and nutrition programs, preferably in a humanitarian context.
- Strong project management and coordination skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including local communities and government officials.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of local language(s) and context is an asset.
LANGUAGE:
- Fluency in Local Language, Amharic, and English, both written and spoken.
