Job Description

.

Vacancy: Project Coordinator

The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) is a biomedical research institute under the Ministry of Health, Ethiopia. The Mycobacterial and Other Bacterial Diseases Research Division at AHRI has planned to conduct a research project on TB infection during pregnancy and its effect on placenta development. The study will involve several health facilities, particularly specialized hospitals and health centers in Addis Ababa to enroll study participants.

The project involves clinical and laboratory activities, and we are looking for enthusiastic, bright-minded, hardworking, and time-conscious candidates to coordinate the project and the team as well as envisioning the excellence of the institute through quality research.

The Role of the Project Coordinator:

The employee will be based at AHRI with frequent visits to the health facilities where the research will be conducted. He/she will be responsible for assisting the Principal Investigator (PI) in coordinating different activities related to the project, controlling weekly plans and reports, communication, and stakeholders’ engagement.

Job Requirements

Personal Specification: Essential Skills and Experience

–          BSc degree in Public Health Sciences or Nursing or any health-related field with a minimum of 5 years experience and a GPA of greater than 3.00.

–          Experience with health research projects and additional experience working in clinical settings would be a plus

–          Experience in field research supervision, coordination, and management

–          Experience in preparing SOPs and CRFs for clinical research

–          Experience in timely preparation of reports

–          Experience in designing and managing regular meetings with stakeholders

–          Experience in monitoring and evaluation

–          Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment and diverse team

–          Attention to detail for quality data record and documentation

–          Familiarity with data management tools such as REDCap

–          Ability to maintain study confidentiality

–          Training in GCP/GCLP and quality control/assurance (preferred)

 Personal Attributes:

–          Personal training/skills in the required position

–          Excellent interpersonal communication skills and proficient English skills

–          Strong computer literacy (MS Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet use)

–          Strong organizational skills

–          A high level of attention to details

–          Ability to work with others/teamwork, including international collaborators.

–          Open for discussion and learning

–          Ability to problem-solving

–          Well organized; flexible to working off-working hours or weekends as needed

–          A willingness to take up additional responsibilities and continuous training as needed

Principal Responsibilities

–          Facilitate the implementation of major project deliverables and activities

–          Closely work with the project PI and study team to smoothly run the project

–          Identify challenges and facilitate discussion to solve problems

–           Regular follow-up and tracking of project expenses (budget/invoices) and assist in the quarterly preparation of financial reports

–          Regularly assist in revising the implementation plan/study procedures as needed

–          Provide regular and frequent administrative assistance and logistic support to the study team

–          Follow up overall procurement needs of the project

–          Receive updates from site investigators in the preparation of technical reports (enrollment updates and other additional site reports) regularly/every week

–           Setting up meeting agendas, minutes recording, organizing/attending online conferences

–          Track screening and enrollment of study participants

–          Execute additional duties as may be assigned by the PI/core team to meet the objectives of the project

 Terms and Conditions:

1. Salary: According to the Institute’s scale for contract employees

2. Hours of Work: These are governed by the laws of Ethiopia. However, the nature of the work is such that it might require working late hours and weekends.

3. Length of Contract: One-year contract period with possible extension based on performance and budget availability.
