Job Description
Position: Project Coordinator
The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI reorganized by the decree of the Council of Minister’s Regulation No. 530/2023 with the objectives of conducting biomedical, clinical trial and bioequivalence research, promoting and strengthening local production of pharmaceutical products and research capacity building under the Federal Ministry of Health. AHRI, over its 50 years in service, is well known for its hub function for skill and technology transfer and partnership embracing research agendas with direct impact in the development and transformation of population in Ethiopia and beyond.
The Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases (MNTD) Research Division is one of the departments in the institute and currently MNTD’s Malaria Research Unit runs different research projects on malaria in collaborations with national and international partners and funders. Therefore, the MNTD Division is looking for self-driven, motivated, innovative and energetic Project Coordinator to join our team. The project coordinator will be mainly responsible for assisting the Principal Investigator (PI) in coordinating different activities, office management, controlling weekly plans and reports, communication and stakeholders’ engagement.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Stakeholders Management and Communication Tasks
· Bringing together all the national and international policy makers, experts, research institutions, academic institutions, collaborators and funders that are working on malaria research and capacity building.
· Create a malaria research network community
· Advocate national and international partners and funders to bring them on board on malaria research agenda
· Bridge the communications with major national and international stakeholders
· Design and manage regular meetings with these stakeholders
· Review and filter the real time scientific findings disseminated through different platforms and share to team members
· Lead the design of webpages, social media platforms (linkedIn, twitter, etc), manage them and disseminate the new scientific findings and progresses of malaria research unit in real time to the national and international community
· Announcing and highlighting relevant events such as publications, media coverages, conferences and training programs.
2. Office Assistance Tasks
The person will be responsible for bridging the Principal Investigator (PI) and inter and intera-departmental stakeholders. Specifically, she will perform the following activities:
· Shape the informal communication of the PI within internal stakeholders, specifically scheduling communications and meetings staffs and intera-departmental staffs
· Arranging appointments with external stakeholders
· Compiling all the weekly plans and reports of different teams under the Malaria Research Unit
· Prepare annual Lab Meeting Schedule and monitor its implementation
· Documenting all the relevant scientific findings, publications and progress reports
· Perform any activities given by the PI
Job Requirements
Required Qualifications:
Education
· A candidate must have a first degree in Public Health, Health Informatics or other related health science fields and having MSc Degree in Health Communications, Epidemiology or other related health science fields has an advantage
· A strong background of computer science/software engineering
· CGPA 3.00 and above for male applicants and 2.75 and above for female applicants
· Work experience is not required

· Fluent in English Languages (speaking, writing, reading and listening)
· Advanced skill of computer science
· Ability to work with others/team work, including international collaborators

Duty station: Addis Ababa AHRI Head Office
Number required: 1 (One)
Terms of employment: one year contract period with full time employment basis with possibility of extension based on performance and budget availability
Salary: As per the institute’s salary scale
