Job Description

 

MeQrez Health Services is a share company incorporated in October 2020 with the aim of strengthening the health sector of Ethiopia. Its primary focus is to have companies in the health sector to help alleviate the health burden of the country with projects such as General Hospital, Chain of Pharmacies, Imaging & Diagnosis Center, Import and Export of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Consumables. MeQrez at its first phase, have pledged to bring smiles on the faces of ailing customers by providing highest customer care with affordable-cost and high-quality medication in Ethiopia by Ethiopians. MeQrez General Hospital is now looking to hire experienced candidates who are visionary to contribute a positive impact in team of MeQrez on the following job positions.

Major Responsibilities of this role:

  • Assures the completeness of prenatal work-up; sends for further workup if it is incomplete;
  • Readies essential equipment, blood, and medications including Anti-D for labor and delivery;
  • Assess laboring mother’s condition and fills partograph accordingly;
  • Take vital signs (Pulse rate, Respiratory rate, blood pressure, temperature, oxygen saturation, urine output, random and fasting blood sugar, and pain score) every 6 hours for ward patients and every 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 30 minutes and every hour, depending on the stage of labor and presence of complications, unless specified otherwise;
  • Assess cervical condition (effacement and dilation) at least every 4 hours during the active first stage of labor and then every 15 to 30 minutes during the second stage of labor;
  • Assess fetal heartbeat every hour during the first stage of labor and every 5 minutes during the second stage of labor;
  • Assess for contractions with or without CTG every 30 minutes during the active first stage of labor and every 10 minutes during the second stage of labor;
  • Follows mother during labor; assesses the progress regularly and follows for the presence of complications;
  • Follows mothers postpartum for any possible complications, every 15 to 30 minutes for the first 2 hours, then every hour for the next 6 hours;
  • Provides essential new born care;
  • Documents progress of labor on partograph;
  • Informs pediatrician for newborn evaluation whenever there is delivery;
  • Informs Obstetrician if there are any complications as early as possible;
  • Alerts NICU for any possible admissions, if pregnancy and/or labor is complicated and/or fetal condition is non-reassuring;
  • Provides counseling on contraceptives and offers methods of contraception;
  • Teach mothers how to breast feed, milk their breast, sun exposure, transition from breast milk to complementary feeding, and vaccination;
  • Provides counseling on vaccinations and offers appointment;
  • Position and/or assist in positioning the patient every 2 hours unless specified otherwise;
  • Provides and/or oral care every 12 hours, unless specified otherwise;
  • Provides and/or assists daily perineal care, unless specified otherwise;
  • Provides and/or assists with a daily bed bath, unless specified otherwise;
  • Provides and/or assists with daily wound care, unless specified otherwise;
  • Inserts and follows functionality and appropriateness of nasogastric tubes daily, unless specified otherwise;
  • Performs suctions every hour unless specified otherwise;
  • Provides and/or assists in feeding patients three times per day, unless specified otherwise;
  • Assures that anesthesia evaluation has been conducted for all elective surgeries;
  • Assures that all the necessary work-up has been completed prior to admission for all elective surgeries;
  • Assures the availability of blood for all pre-op surgical patients;
  • Assures that the treating physician and anesthesia team has obtained informed written consent;
  • Prepares the patient for surgery – whenever indicated, insert Naso-gastric tube, catheterize, do enema, and keep NPO overnight;
  • Assures the transfer of the patient to the operation theatre 30 minutes prior to the scheduled procedure;
  • Upon transfer from the recovery, the nurse should assure that the patient is fully awake from anesthesia, the type of fluid he or she is taking, what type of anti-pain he or she is taking and whether those fluids and medications have been administered properly;
  • Change the dressing as ordered by the treating physician.

Salary: – As Per Company scale and benefit package

Place of work: – Addis Ababa

Closing Date: – Seven consecutive days including Saturday from date of this announcement.

 

Term of Employment: – Permanent up on satisfactory completion of the probationary period.

Job Requirements

 

Required skills and qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Midwifery Nursing with two years work experience on the job position for senior staff and no experience is required for Junior Midwifery Nurse.
  • Emotional & Mental strength.
  • Best observant.
  • Willingness to take multi tasks & additional responsibilities.
  • Interpersonal skills.
