The Ethiopian Nurses Association (ENA) is the first health professional association in Ethiopia, established in 1952 and a member of the International Council of Nurses (ICN). ENA is a legally recognized professional association that represents over 86,000 nurses in Ethiopia, striving to standardize, and promote quality-nursing services to society through research, education, leadership, and good governance. The association is currently working in harmony with policymakers and other stakeholders to improve the health service. The overall objective of ENA is to improve nursing profession and nurses through training, regulation, leadership, research and improving the quality of nursing service to the society, and improving the health outcomes. It also aims at enhancing the use of health care services with digital health information technologies for Professional empowerment and improves professional governance and leadership with integrity.

Position: Program Assistant
Scope of Work Summary

The Regulation and Capacity Building Advisor for strengthening the nursing workforce training in Ethiopia the through the sub awarded Sustainable Training and Education Programme (STEP) III project (GIZ-ENA project) is responsible for A Program Assistant, or Program Support Assistant, is responsible for providing administrative support to team members throughout the planning and implementation of educational, charitable or professional programs.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the project manager, the program assistant will be responsible for a managing workshop, travel, training, and managing finance. In addition, needs analysis and assessment, planning of workshops and training, planning and mobilizing resources, implementing and monitoring the progress of the workshops and training, preparing participants for workshops and training for respective colleagues and partners at national and regional levels, follow activity tracker dashboard, promotion, e-newsletter, and reporting. Facilitate experience sharing, collect, and summarize experience in pre-service and regulation project implementations. Provide onsite coat-checking for TVET trainers and students. Carry out workshop and training preparation

Type of Employment:    Contract

Contract Duration : 1 year to be renewed every 6 months and subject to availability of funds, satisfactory performance and continuing need for the position

Job Requirements

 

  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multiple tasks, short deadlines and intense pressure to perform;
  • Effective interpersonal communication skills
  • Self-motivated, highly organized
  • Computer Literacy (Word, Excel and power point);
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and foster trust and respect;
  • Ability to travel for field activities (may reach a peak level of up to 30% of the time)

Education and Qualifications

  • College degree and above to the position in nursing or other related fields to the position
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in program assistant
  •  Understanding of performance quality improvement issues and approaches in a clinical setting; in pre-service education and in-service training, etc;
  • Proven experience in working with FMoH, MoSHE/MoE, RHBs, government agencies, sister professional associations, and nursing higher education institutions;
  • Advanced training and ToT in areas of health professions education and regulation area is advantageous
  • Experience in NGO environment is advantageous;
  • Previous relevant experience in areas of developing, managing CPD courses, engage in accreditation process of CPD courses

Proven engagement in CPD related committee, guideline and directive development and modification 

Education Level : College degree and above

Experience : 2 years and above
