Job Description

This is an external vacancy announcement from Global Environmental and Occupational Health (GEOHealth) Hub for Research and Training in Eastern Africa (Ethiopia, Kenya, and Uganda). The GEOHealth Hub is a research and training platform centered at Addis Ababa University, College of Health Sciences, School of Public Health that was established with grant support from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) of the United States of America in School of Public Health, Addis Ababa University, College of Health Sciences. The project focuses on air pollution and health, occupational safety and health, climate change, and Health research. The School of Public Health at Addis Ababa University College of Health Sciences wants to hire, on a contract basis, a professional in the following job position for GEOHealth project.

The data manager/analyst will coordinate the data entry, management, and analysis and ensure the data quality that should meet according to the set research plan.

Job description

  • Coordinate data entry, management, and analysis with the research administrator and field researchers.
  • Ensure the provision of data quality assurance using the REDCAP platform
  • Set up and maintain the REDCap database management system and be responsible for ensuring it is updated regularly as per the standard operating procedures
  • Manage the GEOHealth databases including cleaning of master data
  • Compile data reports periodically and report them to the Research Administrator, Hub Manager, and PI as needed.
  • Submit a detailed report on the performance of the data management process towards the end of each contract termination time.
  • Work under the guidance of the data management and analysis committee chair to handle the password of REDCAP and related matters.
  • Keep all data confidential and do not use anything other than the intended employment activities.
  • Undertake data analysis and manage the data software for all research projects
  • Work closely with the research administration, hub manager/administrator, PIs, and investigators.
  • Compile performance periodically and report to the data manager timely
  • Work on any related assignments about GEOHealth research activities

 Monthly Salary: Attractive and negotiable. subjected to tax based on Ethiopian tax regulations.

Required number: (1) one

Duration and condition of employment: one year with possible extension based on the candidate’s performance and project period.

Screening process: Candidates for this position are expected to go through a rigorous recruitment process based on document review, written exam, and interview as appropriate.

Job Requirements

 

Qualification & required skills

  • Masters in Biostatistics/Statistics/Computer/Information science/Public health/Health informatics/ or Master of Science in health-related disciplines,
  • Demonstrated ability in data management and analysis execution using various data sources such as health facility, school, and community-based surveys.
  • Experience in tool development using ODK, Survey CTO,
  • Well-oriented towards the health system of Ethiopia, particularly hospitals’ Health Management Information system (DHIS-2) and WHO ICD 10.
  • Experience and strong proficiency in data management and analysis software, including SPSS, Stata, and R,
  • Excellent communication, computer skills, and fluency in English
  • Experience in data analysis of multi-site data and expertise in major data analysis software,
  • Extensive experience with multi-country and multi-site research projects, experience with various types of quantitative analysis,
