Job Description:
- Brief Profile of the College:
Established in 2002, Universal Medical & Business College (UMBC), is one of the pioneers in the Ethiopian Private Higher Education sector. Since its establishment, UMBC has been offering quality education and training in various health fields including Pharmacy, Nursing and Public Health programs both at undergraduate degree and TVET/diploma level. The College lately has launched its 1st Postgraduate program, i.e. Public Health in Nutrition. Currently, having its headquarter around Hayahulet Mazoria, behind Dinberua Hospital, UMBC is on the verge of launching new Postgraduate and Undergraduate Programs in Business and Finance fields of studies along with expanding its existing programs in terms of level and catchment area. In doing so, the College invites qualified and interested applicants in the following vacant position/s who will assist in realizing its goal.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
- Plans, coordinates, and directs the academic and administrative activities of all PG Programs;
- Prepares the campus’s annual budget and human resources requirements, and ensures proper implementation upon approval;
- Ensures that all the instructors execute their duties according to the given schedule;
- Advises students or making sure that students are advised and supported to advance their studies properly in the college;
- Controls and supervises support staff assigned in the campus;
- Deals with appeals from support staff and students within the campus;
- Ensures that all the facilities of the campus are properly handled and utilized for effective operation;
- Coordinates examinations conducted in the campus, and makes sure that all assigned staff have executed their duties accordingly;
- Ensure proper conduction of all continuous assessments and final examinations and that feedbacks are given immediately;
- Supervises the proper utilization of libraries, laboratories, reading/study centres and other facilities within the campus;
- Consistently updates reference materials in the library in consultation with the College’s management;
- Facilitates and assists with the registration and fee collection activities on the campus;
- Coordinates and monitors thesis executions in contact with advisors, examiners as well as researchers;
- Supervises, handles, and resolves disciplinary cases of the staff, students, and other personnel under his/her jurisdiction;
- Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports with respect to all activities of the Campus, and
- Carry out other activities as required.

Job Requirements:
- Summary of Job Requirements:
Any successful candidate for this advertised position is expected to be able to plan, coordinate, and direct all activities of the College’s Postgraduate School. S/he is expected to have a rich knowledge and experience of postgraduate program coordination in the Ethiopian context and more specifically the private sector. Moreover, the successful candidate for this advertised position will be able to initiate and design appropriate Campus level academic and administrative strategy and ensure its implementation, representing the College in different matters and leading all employees and coordinate their activities by creating/building appropriate linkage so as to attain desired result.
Educational Qualification & Experience
- PhD/MSc/MA in Public Health, Adult Nursing Business Administration, Project Management, or other Health and Business related fields;
- A minimum of 8 years related experience preferably in the Ethiopian Private Higher Education sector of which at least two years as Postgraduate Programs Dean/Coordinator;
Essential Competencies & Qualities
- Familiarity to FDRE’s ETA regulations and systems
- Oral & Written fluency in English and Amharic languages;
- Knowledge of the theories, principles & practices of management;
- Excellent facilitation and networking skills; proven experience in coordinating & leading team/s;
- Strong analytical ability and problem solving skills;
- Excellent interpersonal & demonstrational skills;
- Good communication and report writing skills;
- Ability to work in pressures and to meet deadlines;
- Faithfulness to work ethics, to the rules and regulations in all aspects
