Job Description Summary

The Gender in Emergencies Advisor will help develop woreda staff capacity and expertise on handling gender in emergencies.

Position contingent upon funding.

Key Primary Responsibilities

 

  • Support development of annual workplans and activity design, incorporating best practices in gender and public health emergency management.
  • Oversee technical assistance related to gender, particularly in developing gender capacity in PHEM at sub-national levels
  • Manage activity budgets and staffing and report on progress/achievements
  • Represent the project to the client (USAID) and other external partners and audience

 

Job requirements

Professional/Technical Skills, Knowledge & Experience:

Professional knowledge:

 

  • Master’s Degree in Public Health, Gender Studies, Sociology, or other relevant degree.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience working on gender issues.
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of the health system in Ethiopia. Candidates with experience working on public health emergencies and pandemics are preferred.
  • Fluency of English and Amharic in reading/writing/speaking (Level IV) is required.
