Job Description:
- Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is an Ethiopian charity organization established in 2007 to ensure brighter future for disadvantaged children, youth & women through integrated community development approach in the thematic areas of ECDE, Education, Youth Skill Development and Employment, Adolescent Girls and Women Empowerment, Renewable Energy and Environmental Protection, and Emergency and Recovery. Currently, ESD is operating its programs in four regional states of Ethiopia: Amhara, Oromia, SNNP, and Sidama.
Job Summary
ESD is committed to achieve work force diversity in terms of profession, gender and other aspects of diversity. Presently, ESD is looking for a young, dynamic, innovative candidate on the position of Early Childhood Development and Education (ECDE) officer for its ECDE related projects and programs. The ECDE officer will report to the program manager of the ESDs North program area and responsible for planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring, evaluation and reporting of the program and project activities. The officer leads the advancement of ECDE related interventions throughout ESD’s programs and projects.
Major Responsibilities
- The ECDE officer shall execute the following major functions:
- Developing project concepts and writing project proposals in collaboration with project and program teams
- Preparing project action plans and execute the plans accordingly in collaboration with the program and project teams
- Engaging the relevant stakeholders in project planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation
- Leading project team in the development and implementation of health and related interventions.
- Training of staff on holistic ECDE concepts
- Training of project stakeholders in ECDE and related concepts
- Utilize the collaborative, learning and adapting approach to continually assess projects’ progress and inform and communicate to the program management.
- Participating in the preparation and facilitation of informational meetings with partners.
- Supporting and supervising the activities of the community workers
- Working closely with the local government offices, schools and communities
- Conducting public events, such as round tables, lectures, press conferences, etc.
- Conducting regular project reporting
- Undertaking any other assignment as may be directed by the organization.
Duty Station: Debre Berhan (with frequent visit to intervention districts in North shoa zones of Oromia and Amhara regions)
Reports to: Program Manager
Job Requirements:
- Required Qualification
- BSC in Nursing, Public Health or related fields
- Knowledge of the major evaluation methodologies (e.g., qualitative, quantitative, mixed method, and impact) and data collection and analysis methodologies.
- Fluency in Amharic and Afan Oromo languages proficiency
- Fluency in English language proficiency
- Competency of working in a multicultural society
