Job Description:
- KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: (Woreda Health Officer)

- Ensure that the health component of the project in the respective woreda is implemented according to the approved donor and government agreements.
- Ensure that project activities are linked and integrated with government sector development programs at woreda level
- Establish community to health facility referral linkage
- In consultation with the health coordinator, develop and regularly update a detailed project work plan guiding the project implementation at woreda level.
- Prepare programmatic reports for SC and ensuring these are of high quality. This will involve compilation of information from project intervention Woreda. Be fully aware of the grant compliance regulations for the donors relevant to the project.
- Be fully aware of how far the project fulfils child rights in terms of SCI’s strategic and thematic plans. Ensure that Child Rights programming is effectively incorporated into all aspects of SCI’s work
- Comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to child protection, health and safety, security, equal opportunities and other relevant policies.
- Through day to day work relationship, provide technical advice and support to stakeholders, partners and volunteers at woreda level.
- Ensure the effective and efficient use of all SCI resources in order to keep costs low and ensure the security of staff
- Participate and lead stakeholder analysis, training need assessment, design and coordination of training sessions at woreda level.
- Ensure there is a system to share experience among the interventions areas.
- Work with the project manager, health coordinator and other project staff to identify the technical support needs of the project and ensure this support is provided
- Represent the project at woreda level and establish work relationship and networking with key government and community partners
· Undertake other activities assigned by the health coordinator
Job Requirements:
- QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- BA /BSC in Health or other relevant fields of study
- Minimum of three years’ experience in Adolescent and youth SRH, Maternal Health and Family planning program implementation.
- Previous experience in Stepping stone and community conversation approaches
- At least 2 year relevant experience in an international NGO or similar organisation.
- Knowledge of policy and practice in the field of adolescent reproductive health, Maternal health and family planning
- Experience in organizing community mobilization and awareness creation events
- A good understanding of development issues and the policy context in the Afar Region and Ethiopia generally.
- Computer literate in word processing and excel packages.
- An understanding of child rights and their protection and fulfilment in the development context.
- Proven motorcycle driving skill and ability to resent renewed driving licence (preferable)
- Fluency in Afar affe & English language is mandatory
Desirable
- Knowledge of the area and region where the post is located
- Experiences working with youth groups and on adolescent reproductive health.
- Proven team and personnel management experience
