Background:
Haramaya University has formed a research collaboration with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Current research projects are focused on maternal and child health. This includes the Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance network (CHAMPS, http://champshealth.org/) which is a new global health surveillance network funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, aimed at understanding the causes of child death in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia and a research study looking into infective causes of stillbirth.
The post-holder will be responsible for working with health care workers and research staff to support and facilitate all research activities within the health centre and catchment population. This will include providing information about surveillance to eligible participant to obtain consent.
1. Job title: PS Field Worker
We are seeking to appoint full time Pregnancy Surveillance (PS) Field Worker for pregnancy surveillance activities to be based in Kersa and Haramaya districts, Ethiopia. The role is to support the CHAMPS pregnancy Surveillance activities with follow-up of pregnancies, delivery and postpartum period, data collection of data and to facilitate activities in the health centres and catchment communities.
Qualifications:
Essential:
The applicant must full-hit the following criteria to apply for the position:
– Diploma (10 +3) in Midwifery or Nursing with zero years of work experience .
– Excellent interpersonal skills.
– Good in using Afan-oromo and Amharic languages
– Female
Desired: if the applicant has the following characteristics in addition to the essential ones, it will support the application
– Communication skills in English
– Previous work experience in similar areas
Number of posts: 3
Work Station: Kersa and Haramaya District Health Centres and catchment areas
Responsible to: Pregnancy Surveillance Midwives at e Respective Health Centres
Salary: 7,374 ETB per month
2. Job title: Midwife
We are seeking to appoint full time Midwife for pregnancy surveillance activities to be based in Kersa and Haramaya Health Centres, Ethiopia. The role is to support the CHAMPS pregnancy Surveillance activities with follow-up of pregnancies, delivery and postpartum period, data collection of data and to facilitate activities in the health centres and catchment communities.

– Degree in Midwifery with zero year of work experience
– Excellent interpersonal skills .
– Good organization and management skills
– Good in using Amharic and Afan-oromo languages
– Female

– Previous work experience in similar areas
– Evidence of basic computer skills (Microsoft office)
