Job Summary:
Overview
The senior sexual and reproductive health (SRH) officer will support SRH specialist in facilitating and implementing overall SRH intervention of planned project activities in filed or project site in a woreda. Provides routine technical support for SRH on day-to-day implementation of life saving PHC-especially SRH services. Support the SRH specialist in a day-to-day program intervention and prepares and submits reports regularly to immediate supervisor. S/he will also closely work with filed finance, logistic and other program peoples for successful implementation of SRH program.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensure that the planned activities are implemented according to the work plan within the planned budget with good quality as per the national and IMC standards;
- Facilitate trainings, workshops and other meetings in the areas of SRH.
- Serve as SRH health resource person at field sites next ;
- Consult and work with SRH specialist, government health workers and field staff in the for the delivery of SRH -family planning (FP) and safe motherhood (ANC, SBA and PNC) services.
- Ensure strong linkage of health services between community-based health service at health posts and health facilities-health centers;
- Responsible and sh/e will be appoint person for the SRH project intervention at the project sites or woreda under his/her supervision;
- Creates and sustains a smooth working relation and collaboration with government stakeholder and other implementing partners (IPs);
- Prepares and revised and detailed project implementation plan work plan and shares with all SRH staff in a woreda, and SRH specialist at the field office;
- Ensures the smooth implementation of all planned health activities through ensuring standards and quality in a given woreda;
- Supports the facilitation of review and coordination meetings to identify project gaps and propose jointly agreed up on action items;
- Undertakes assessment/s to identify gaps and status of SRH at each woreda by engagement of SRH staff in a woreda;
- Provides technical support for IMC SRH staff and government health workers for proper timely implementation of the activities within the given time frames;
- Participates on joint supportive supervisions (JSS) by involving key health partners from zonal and woreda levels.
- Represents IMC in any SRH meetings organized at project site as needed;
- Prepares and provides regular Bi-weekly and monthly progress report with approval of the SRH specialist;
- Performs other duties as assigned. The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive;
Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
- Ability to cope with stress; hardship; patience and flexibility.
- Ability to effectively work with government, community leaders, international/national organizations, donors, partners and other International Medical Corps relationships.
- Strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English. Advanced proficiency in the use of MS Office, Email and other computer applications
- Able to establish and maintain a healthy working relationships with colleagues;
- Willingness to work additional hours to meet tight and demanding deadlines.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret data and familiarity SRH assessments;
- Strong organizational skills.
- Ability and willingness to travel and work in rural areas, including health facilities where the project is implemented;
- Demonstrated experience and skills in supporting, coordinating and providing SRH services.
Job Requirement
Education:
- MPH with health background and have 2 years of related experience in NGOs;
- Bachelor degree in Public Health or Nursing/Midwifery or other related clinical health fields with 4 years of experience;
Experience:

- Experience on SRH services and interventions including social and behavior change communication (SBCC) and other awareness raising approaches
- Trainings on BEmONC, comprehensive long acting -reversible contraceptives (LARC) and emergency health response would have added advantages;
- Experience of facilitation of training review meetings and workshops;
- Experience on budget and human resource for health (HRH) management ;
- Excellent computer skills, including all Microsoft applications ;
- Proficiency in written and spoken English;
- Ability to work independently and under tight deadlines;
- Ability to develop good team spirit and support field staff;
- Knowledge of the respective site or local language.
