Accountabilities and MAIN WORK ACTIVITIE
The Community Development Agent is expected to deliver the following key end results in his/her assigned kebeles/ communities:
- Responsible to handle communications between droughts affected beneficiaries and Emergency unit to meet organizational standards including timeliness, content and quality.
§ Collect and submit Health and Nutrition and Wash activities data timely to strengthen coordination and also to benefit targeted beneficiaries.
§ Participating in the woreda meeting agendas and documentation and dissemination of the meetings minutes and recommendations.
§ Providing technical support for MOH staffs in the development and dissemination of messages promoting nutrition and IYCF related practices and behaviors targeted
§ Work with Community based WASH Committees and Community Volunteers to facilitate sponsorship production process; and Provide feedback and WASH trainings to social workers and WASH attendants in collaboration with immediate supervisor
§ Timely and quality production of Health & Nutrition and WASH communication items as per the to-do-list and production schedules produced by the WASH and Emergency department.
§ Coordinate social workers visits with WASH attendants and submit visit summary reports to immediate supervisor and respective program staff.
§ Incorporating cross cutting issues (disability, gender, HIV & AIDS) are mainstreaming in all levels of team activities.
§ Facilitate different Rehabilitation of damaged WSS activities in coordination with local government structures.
§ Support and facilitate different Health & Nutrition and WASH capacity building and hygiene and sanitation activities to meet the project goal.
§ Maintain content and proper arrangement of WASH activities files at respective community as per the standard requirement.
§ Handle other WASH related activities as requested by immediate supervisor.
- Facilitate implementation of Plan’s program/projects in the drought affected communities in collaboration with program department, communities, local government and stakeholders
§ Ensure the integration of Health and Nutrition and WASH and another program implementation
§ Facilitate, mobilize and support communities and children’s engagement in the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Plan’s programs and projects at village level
§ Plan’s representation at the grassroots/community level by facilitating the implementation of programs and projects; and mobilizing community on Plan’s programs and projects
§ Facilitate and establish smooth working relationships between Plan, direct beneficiaries, community leadership, government extension staff and other stakeholders at district and village levels
§ Community orientation on WASH activities, Plan Child protection policy and reporting and responding guidelines
§ Take part in beneficiary selection processes, including to facilitating and ensuring the inclusion of children with disabilities, targeted children, and girls/women.
§ Serve as a point person at community/village level in any partner managed events to maximize Plan’s visibility, including participation in community meetings
§ Forward concerns and inquiries from the community to immediate supervisor in relation to development needs and provide feedback to the community .
§ Regularly inform Health and Nutrition, WASH and Program Staff at the project/program area, with regards to any changes, developments, success stories etc.
§ Prepare and submit progress reports properly and timely
§ Perform other duties as requested by the immediate supervisor
- Responsible to facilitate and handle Health and Nutrition and WASH activity visits done properly at community level.
§ Report any unannounced visit to immediate supervisor.
- Job Requirements:
- Essential
· Diploma in Public Health, Social science, Sociology, Development agent ,Community or Cooperative Development, Community Health and other related subject.
· Minimum of one years work experience for diploma holders and 2 years of related work experience for 12+ holders either as community facilitator or community development agent.
· Experience in training, familiarity with stimulation/awareness methods, knowledge in child development and in nutrition issues, DRR, Hygiene Promotion
· NGO experiences and/or engagement in joint community development works with NGOs and stakeholders.
· Local Language is an asset
Desirable
· Previous experience in resilience related work at community level is an advantage;
· Good communication skill with stakeholders, beneficiaries and implementing partners
· Previous experiences on Emergency response activities in pastoralist communities
· Proven commitments on working multi-sectoral project interventions with pastoralist communities.
· Good team spirit and ability to establish good relations with other people, organization and activity supervision skills,
· Capacity to manage priorities, precision, autonomy, creativity, flexibility
· Good knowledge of the area and local custom
· Basic computer skill (desirable and advantageous)
· Problem solving and conflict management skills;
· Gender and culture sensitivity;
· Community facilitation skills;
· Good knowledge of Local language, Amharic and English languages;
· Report writing skills
· The job holder must be committed to reside in the rural community after employment
